Leadership
Leadership matters. In the Constable’s Office we are called upon to engage with the community at important moments when good judgment can make all the difference between peaceful interactions and potentially violent or dangerous situations. I have to set the tone and provide an example to those in the precinct. I work to constantly exhibit the qualities that I look for in a good leader: a combination of strategic vision, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
I characterize my leadership style as one that balances decisiveness, encouraging open dialogue, and valuing others’ input. I prioritize cultivating a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
The presence of a capable leader in the Constable's Office is crucial. It not only improves the organization's efficiency but also empowers employees to excel in their roles. By providing clear direction, support, and opportunities for growth, I strive to enable individuals to realize their full potential. This leads to delivering the best possible public safety services because employees who are motivated and well-supported can effectively address the ever-changing challenges of ensuring community well-being. It also makes good use of public resources by reducing turnover among employees and allowing for promotion from within the organization.
Community
Community service and engagement should be reflected in everything we do in the Constable’s Office. Initiatives such as attending local community meetings, actively participating on social media, collaborating with schools, and being involved in community events allow us to achieve this goal and reinforce our commitment to serving and safeguarding the public.
Recognizing the dual benefits of these engagements—strengthening relationships and gathering valuable information for crime prevention—we actively volunteer services at local community events to showcase our dedication to community well-being. I am also passionate about fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing with local law enforcement agencies to enhance our collective ability to ensure public safety and protect residents. My goal is to continue to lead a Constable's Office that not only actively serves, engages, and contributes to the well-being of the broader community but also prioritizes the safety and security of every individual within it.
Integrity
“From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded” (Luke 12:48). Our community is so supportive of law enforcement, that we cannot give back anything short of complete integrity. That’s why integrity is a cornerstone of my leadership philosophy within law enforcement. Upholding transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct within the Constable's Office is essential. Treating community members with respect is a non-negotiable principle. This commitment extends to the careful selection and retention of Deputies who embody qualities such as honesty, integrity, common sense, and a strong work ethic. Drawing on management experience and inspired by examples of ethical leadership, I prioritize continuous training to ensure adaptability in the face of evolving challenges. Additionally, I deeply understand that our actions as law enforcement officers can profoundly impact the perception of all law enforcement in our community, and this responsibility is not to be taken lightly. Every decision we make, and every interaction we have with the community shapes the public's trust and confidence in our profession, and I am committed to upholding the highest standards to maintain that trust.
